Municipal Benefits Services (“MBS”), established in 1968 as the Municipal Employers Insurance Trust (“MEIT”), provides comprehensive employee benefits programs and related administrative services to over 300 municipalities, authorities, and councils of government in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
MBS’ mission is to provide valuable and cost-effective employee benefit programs and related services to local governments through group purchasing with a strong focus on effective risk management strategies, and superior client service for our members and their employees.
The MBS model is built upon a strong knowledge of government and its specialized needs. To maintain a solid understanding of the ongoing needs of our members, MBS is governed by an active board of nine experienced municipal managers and related professionals plus anywhere from two to four additional managers from participating employers serving as an advisory committee.
